New Features of GigTide Version 1.1

We’ve been busy analyzing how our customers use GigTide, collecting the feedback sent to us, and coming up with a whole list of things we feel will make GigTide more easier to use than ever. Check out some of GigTide’s new upgrades:

“Previous” and “Continue” Buttons Added

These buttons now allow GigTide users to walk through the application step-by-step. Even after reordering the tabs, you can easily step through the resume builder and ensure all the information you want to include has been added.

Resume Progress Sidebar Auto-Hides When Entering Dashboard

Now you can have extra space to manage your resumes, cover letters and contacts. The Resume Progress sidebar will automatically hide itself as soon as you enter the dashboard and reappear once you jump back into the resume builder section.

Create Cover Letters in GigTide and Export to a Word Doc

Once you create a cover letter in your account, you can easily view, save or print from Word. Just click on the “View as Word Doc” button located within the My Cover Letters list in your dashboard.

Cover Letter Editor Now Allows for Advanced Formatting

The GigTide cover letter editor now allows you to easily custom format your letter using the same editor capabilities included in each step of the resume builder tabs.

Preview Buttons from GigTide No Longer Increase Total Views

Now you can review your resume as many times as you like and your views will not increase your total views or add to any of the standard resume tracking numbers. This helps you get a more accurate picture of how many people are actually viewing your resume and where they are coming from.

Review Your Resume in Both PDF and Word Doc Formats from Within Dashboard

Now you can review both the PDF version and the Word Doc version of your saved resumes from within your dashboard. Simply click on the PDF and Word Doc buttons on the right side of your saved resume list

Log In by Entering Login Information and Pressing Enter

Now you don’t have to manually press the “login” button on the login screen. The application will now allow you to enter your information in and press the Enter key on your keyboard.

Major Template Smarts

The GigTide templates can now easily process bulleted lists when copying and pasting from Word, remove unneeded whitespace issues, only show the sections when there is actual content in them, and a whole slew of additional fixes that ensure your resume will look the way you want it to.

You can now easily view the Writing Tips in it’s own tab within the resume builder.

In this section you can add a link or a list of links to samples of your work online. Some examples include; your online portfolio, sample websites, personal projects or any other other online media that supports your resume. This feature is especially useful for creative people and people who want to reference projects or video online.

You can create an online portfolio through sites like:

Online Portfolio Directions:
Type a descriptive phrase like, “View My Online Portfolio”
Highlight the text you just created and enter the URL to the web page in the input box in the editor. Your link should look something like this:

Resume Writing: Experience

Here you will list your employment history and, depending on the style of resume you are writing, include the details here or in the Qualifications section. Do not use your job description to describe what you did at your previous places of employment. Instead, focus on the things that matter to your potential employer.

You might include these items: (A bulleted list is recommended for this section)

  • Name and City / State of Company
  • Title of Position (Department- optional)
  • Month/Year Hired – Month/Year Departed
  • Accomplishments (optional depending on your choice of resume style)
